Cable wants ministers to shift policy focus to strategy of promoting growth via industry
The UK government needs an "industrial strategy" to promote economic growth rather than worry about reforming the House of Lords, Business Secretary Vince Cable said yesterday.
Mr Cable said ministers needed to focus on promoting economic growth, while at the same time pushing through Lords reform “quickly and quietly”.
The Business Secretary said the government must do an “awful lot more” when it came to supporting the country’s “successful” industries.
Mr Cable added: “We need to have what we have called ‘an industrial strategy’, backing some of the key successful industries.
