M54 closed after woman falls from bridge
A woman has died after falling off a bridge over the M54 leaving hundreds of Bank Holiday drivers stuck in huge tailbacks.
Police have said the woman fell off the bridge close to junction three and onto the motorway just after 3pm.
Both lanes of the westbound carriageway, from Birmingham to Shrewsbury, were closed for more than an hour. A single lane was later re-opened after 4pm.
The Highways Agency has said normal traffic conditions are not expected to resume until 9.15pm today.
A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said paramedics were still at the scene.
Eastbound travel is unaffected.
