Music college director faces jail after taking £200,000
Janet Whitehouse, 56, took nearly £100,000 from the 190-year Royal Academy of Music in Marylebone in three lump sums between 2007 and last year, claiming she had the approval of its chairman Lord Burns.Â
She also submitted false invoices on behalf of her company Whiteley Associates for work costing £103,950 that was not carried out.
In addition, she arranged for her son to stay rent-free in accommodation at the academy, whose alumni include Elton John and Annie Lennox. Trustees include soprano Lesley Garrett and economist Sir Howard Davies.
