Rover wrecks wall on Newport Olympic torch route
Concerned residents have called for new speed calming measures on a road set to be included on the route for the Olympic Torch in Newport after a car ploughed through a wall.
The silver Rover vehicle smashed into a garden wall on the junction of Broadway and Stafford Road at about 1am on Monday.
The car mounted the pavement, knocking over a road sign and trees before finally coming to rest witha shattered windscreen.
The scene of the crash is near a school crossing and will form part of the route for the Olympic Torch procession on May 30.
