Stephen Hendry quits snooker as rivals pay tribute
SNOOKER legend Stephen Hendry has quit the sport after losing his World Championship quarter final to Stephen Maguire at the Crucible in Sheffield. The seven-time world champion slumped to a 13-2 defeat and afterwards announced that he was hanging up his cue at the age of 43.
He will be remembered as the greatest-ever snooker player who set records aplenty. Among them are his 36 ranking titles and 775 century breaks, including 11 competitive 147s, the most recent of which came in the first round of his final tournament.
