VIDEO: ‘Brilliant atmosphere’ at Rutland Morris May Day dawn dance
RAIN did not deter Rutland Morris who danced in the rain to welcome the first light of May Day this morning (Tuesday). The dancers were in Uppingham Market Place from dawn at 5.17am to 6am where they did their Mummers’ Dance and then headed along High Street East to The Crown Hotel for breakfast.
Spokesman Dave Casewell said: “We had a lovely time. It was a bit damp but we have a crowd of about a dozen people and the police stopped and watched.
“It was a brilliant atmosphere. We always have a good time and it was very well supported by members of the club.
“It is becoming a well-established annual event.”
The club is looking for new members.
